Beinn Fhionnlaidh from across Loch Mullardoch.

2pm, 26/05/97

~ It was good to see Mullardoch without the tidemark which disfigures it for much of the year, but I have my regrets about this photo.

I had been camped in Gleann a'Choilich (damply nabbing the pesky Mullach na Dheiragain on the 25th, after Gobhar - Lapaich - Riabhachan - Socach the previous day) and when at 8am a 20 hour shower of rain showed no sign of relenting I abandoned the plan to traverse the tops, from Fhionnlaidh to Creagach, back to the dam, and took the low road instead. Of course not long after I'd crossed the Rubicon of the Gobh-alltan, but too late to go back, the cloud began to lift and clear from the east, and this superb afternoon was the result.

 A badly missed opportunity.

~ This was meant to form a panorama with the previous one, but it was a cackhanded attempt and the two don't match up satisfactorily.
