Allt na Muice and a gaunt Teallach. 11am, 26/05/00
An Teallach from Beinn Dearg Mor. 3pm, 26/05/00 ~ With the tent at the confluence of the Gleann na Muice and Gleann na Muice Beag streams - an idyllic spot - the south-east ridge was the obvious approach to B D M - well-defined, fairly direct, and one I'd never (and still haven't) seen described. It gave an interesting sandstony scramble with a notably weird and mischievous ambience, at one point barring progress with a narrow but sheer gap, the wall higher on the far side - could easily have been jumped if there had been anywhere to land, but there wasn't. I thought for a time I was entirely snookered, but eventually found a devious way down into the gap and onwards. It was a brisk and vivid afternoon of sharp showers and consequent rainbows, one of which had me sprinting up the last bit to the corrie rim to get this shot. The views all round were glorious. On at length to the more prosaic B D B, then down into Srath Beinn Dearg to check out the bothy potential of a small unmapped building I could see - it turned out to be a prefabricated structure, very securely locked.
