Stob Coire nan Lochan from Coire nan Lochan. 7am, 13/05/01 ~ Off in the hushed brittle dawn of a glorious spring morning, up the Gearr Aonach by the Zig-zags and on to SCnL's east ridge, which though perfectly easy has a mountaineering feel to it, over Bidean and Sgreamhach, and on to Beinn Fhada. A careful glissade (if there is such a thing) down a likely-looking gully eased the descent to the Lost Valley, and an afternoon's sunbathing in Glen Etive. Ah, these Alpine starts, and if you're thinking I was being a bit lazy here, I'd done a double traverse of the Aonach Eagach (Bodach - Fiannaidh - Bodach) the previous afternoon and felt some festering had been earned.
Approaching the Bidean from Stob Coire nan Lochan. 8am, 13/05/01
Stob Coire Sgreamhach and the Bidean from Beinn Fhada. 10am, 13/05/01 ~ Quite an Alpine ambience here. There is a slightly tricky step on the ridge from Sgreamhach (the bit just above my head), where it is best to keep to the right (in descent).
