Last mile or so of the 1987 Glasgow Marathon, in Ballater St. My brother was running in it, and that's my sister-in-law with Nephews #1, #2, and #3.
My brother. He was pretty well spaced-out by this stage, past the 25 mile mark, and didn't even notice his family waving by the roadside, which disappointed the nephews. He hadn't done many marathons before this but got right into it and recorded sub-2hr40 in later years, which is seriously good. Then in 1997 he was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease which progressively incapacitated him and he died in 2001, aged 58. Pray that nobody you care for is ever afflicted by this dreadful disease.
